Obituary
Bettye E. Whiting was born in Darby Township, PA on August 27, 1926 to Handy Mason Sr. and Alice E. Mason. She departed this life on April 27, 2018.
Bettye was baptized at an early age at Methodist Church. She received her education in the Darby Township School System.
She went to nursing school and became a Practical Nurse.
Bettye’s flair for fashion lead her to make a career change. She worked for Lerner’s as a window dresser for 42 years until she retired.
She met and married George Whiting. She had several hobbies which included singing and interior decorating.
She also enjoyed being a faithful servant to her church Millennium Baptist Church by singing on several choirs.
Bettye was a devoted wife to her husband George Whiting until the Lord called him home.
There is a lot more to be said about Bettye and her ninety-one years of life, but in conclusion her passion was the love of serving the Lord and her devotion to her family. On Friday, April 27, 2018 God called Bettye home.
Bettye was preceded her in death by brothers: Charlie, Mike, June, Walter Mason and sisters: Alice Howard, Mary Thompson, and Emma Mason.
She leaves to carry on her legacy: loving daughter Charlotte L. Walker, her beloved grandson Johnathan “Korky” Walker, beloved sister Florence Brown “Skipper” and special friends: Warren Davis, Alice Poteet, and Anthony Bowers, Robin Brown, Omeda Timmons, Connie Key, Hattie Morris, Gladys Davis, Barbara Wade, and Kelley Freeman, along with nieces, nephews and a host of other family, friends and church family.
